The Second World War has provided Brabant with countless diverse stories. And both anxious and hopeful moments have left history there. In a gripping augmented reality app, Brabant Remembers now brings this history to life.

Relive the stories of wartime people in Brabant and visit the place where their lives were radically changed. Feel the doubt, fear, hope and courage of those who had to make choices with life-changing consequences for themselves and others.

The app lets you step directly into the personal stories. From home, or at the location where someone had to make a life-changing choice. Here you are now faced with a choice.

World first: WWII stories come to life in 3D

Combination of storytelling and the latest (video) technologies brings memory of World War II into the experience of young people through the Living History AR app.

In the Living History AR app, personal WWII stories are depicted and made extra palpable with augmented reality. With the start of Freedom Month 2021, this app has been enriched with five new experiences that take the user back in time through the application of state-of-the-art technology. The user is immersed in the world of the past, where actors tell and reenact the war story. All kinds of visual and auditory effects create a high-impact experience. You can experience this “time travel” from any location worldwide in both Dutch and English. A world first, which seamlessly connects to the experience of young people.

Making of the AR App

More than 40 actors collaborated on the AR App Brabant Remembers – Living History. In 2019, 11 stories were brought back to life through Augmented Reality at the locations where they took place during World War II. Watch the making of here and get a unique behind-the-scenes look.
