STUDIO REMEMBER
An itinerant studio
Through 2025, you will encounter Studio Herinner throughout Brabant (and perhaps beyond). In fact, with that studio, we are traveling the province to find out what “remembering” and “remembrance” mean to Brabanders today. What it means to you. We are looking for your stories, thoughts, your opinions and the questions you have.
Remembering World War II
World War II. Now almost eighty years ago. We were taught about it in school. We saw the films and documentaries. We read the books and diaries. We learned that it was so bad, we should never forget it. But how do you do that?
That remembering is not natural. Especially not if you’re young, or if you haven’t lived here very long, or know of a war that now plagues your front yard. Hence our question, “What does remembering mean to you?
What does remembering mean to you?
We are going to explore this question over the next few years by talking about it. In all kinds of ways, in all kinds of places and with as many people as possible. We think that will produce impressive moments, encountering problems and experiencing special encounters.
We are going to experience it all together. Because we want to share everything with you. At the end of Studio Remember’s journey, all those histories, thoughts and conversations tell a story of Brabant that remembers. A little bit of every man for himself and a little bit of all of us.
Where do
You against us?
You will see us at events, where we collect stories together with Brabant Herinnert. You meet us at commemorations, during special events, or because we heard that someone in the neighborhood has something interesting to say.
You can find us online, on Instagram and TikTok we share daily wonders, on YouTube we tell some longer stories and in our podcast Studio Remember we interview many of the people we meet.
Installation of recall
By retrieving the stories, giving a new perspective and retelling, we are building, on behalf of Brabant Remembers, an interesting exhibition. We are working on that until 2025. We give all the stories a place in that exhibition. So yours too! We are also creating a book that compiles eighty life-changing stories.
